Getting Started

How do I set up my Canon camera with SnapMonkey?
  1. Create a free account at snapmonkey.app
  2. Connect at least one cloud storage provider (OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox)
  3. Copy the FTP credentials shown in your SnapMonkey dashboard
  4. On your Canon camera, navigate to WiFi/Network settings and configure an FTP server
  5. Enter the SnapMonkey FTP address, port, username, and password
  6. Take a test photo and confirm it appears in your cloud storage
Which Canon cameras are compatible?

SnapMonkey works with any Canon camera that supports built-in WiFi FTP transfer. This includes most Canon EOS R-series mirrorless cameras (R3, R5, R5 II, R6, R6 II, R1, etc.) and many professional DSLR models (1D X series, 5D Mark IV, etc.).

If your camera has a "Transfer images to FTP server" option in the WiFi/network menu, it should work with SnapMonkey. Check your camera's manual for FTP capability.

For the full product overview, see the SnapMonkey product page.

How do I connect my cloud storage?

From your SnapMonkey dashboard:

  1. Click "Add Cloud Storage" or go to your settings
  2. Select your provider (OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox)
  3. Sign in to your cloud account and authorize SnapMonkey
  4. Choose the destination folder for your photos

You can connect multiple cloud providers and even send photos to multiple destinations simultaneously.

LMID (Llama Monkey ID)

What is LMID?

LMID (Llama Monkey ID) is our unified identity system. Instead of separate accounts for each Llama Monkey product, one LMID gives you single sign-on access to SnapMonkey, LiftMonkey, and every future product.

For the full overview and waitlist, see the LMID product page.

Is LMID available now?

LMID is currently in development and coming soon. We'll notify existing users when it's ready to link your accounts.

Will I need to create a new account?

When LMID launches, you'll be able to create an LMID and link your existing SnapMonkey account to it. No data will be lost — your transfer history, settings, and cloud connections stay intact.

What products work with LMID?

SnapMonkey will be the first product to integrate with LMID. LiftMonkey will follow. All future Llama Monkey products will use LMID from day one.

How is my LMID data protected?

LMID uses OAuth 2.0 and encrypted credentials. When you sign in to a product via LMID, only minimal identity info (your name, email, and a unique identifier) is shared. Your password is never shared between products. You can manage sessions and revoke access from your LMID dashboard. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I use LMID without SnapMonkey?

Yes. LMID is a standalone identity — you can create one even if you don't use any Llama Monkey products yet. When new products launch, your LMID will be ready to go.

LiftMonkey

What is LiftMonkey?

LiftMonkey is a media extraction tool. Paste a social media URL — from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, or other supported platforms — and download your photos and videos instantly. You can also route media directly to your cloud storage via SnapMonkey integration.

For the full overview and waitlist, see the LiftMonkey product page.

Which platforms are supported?

LiftMonkey supports Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, and more. We're continuously adding support for additional platforms. Check liftmonkey.app for the latest supported platforms.

Is LiftMonkey available now?

LiftMonkey is in early development. We'll announce availability on our website and through our channels when it's ready.

Can I save media to cloud storage?

Yes. LiftMonkey integrates with SnapMonkey for automatic cloud routing. You can download media directly to your browser or send it to OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox through your SnapMonkey connection.

Is downloaded media stored on your servers?

No. Media is transient — LiftMonkey processes the URL, extracts the media, and delivers it directly to your browser or cloud storage. Files are not permanently stored on our servers.

Troubleshooting

Why are my photos not transferring?

If your photos are not arriving in your cloud storage, try these steps:

  1. Check WiFi connection: Make sure your camera is connected to a WiFi network with internet access
  2. Verify FTP credentials: Double-check that the FTP address, port, username, and password match what's shown in your SnapMonkey dashboard
  3. Check transfer mode: Ensure your camera is set to transfer via FTP (not Bluetooth or the Canon app)
  4. Review your dashboard: Log in to SnapMonkey and check the transfer history for error messages
  5. Cloud storage authorization: Verify your cloud storage is still connected — tokens can expire and may need to be reauthorized

If the issue persists, contact us at [email protected] with your account email and we'll help troubleshoot.

Can I change my FTP credentials?

Yes. You can regenerate your FTP credentials from your SnapMonkey dashboard under account settings. Note that regenerating credentials will invalidate your old ones, so you'll need to update the FTP settings on all your cameras.

My transfers are slow — what can I do?

Transfer speed depends primarily on your camera's WiFi connection. To improve performance:

  • Use a 5GHz WiFi network if your camera supports it (less interference, faster speeds)
  • Move closer to your WiFi router or access point
  • Reduce interference from other devices on the network
  • Consider transferring JPEGs instead of RAW files for faster uploads during time-sensitive shoots

Account & Billing

What's included in the free plan?

The free plan includes up to 200 file transfers per month. This covers both photos and videos. You can connect one camera and one cloud storage destination. The transfer counter resets at the beginning of each calendar month.

How do I upgrade or change my plan?

Log in to your SnapMonkey account and navigate to Settings > Subscription. You can upgrade, downgrade, or change your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately, and downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.

How do I delete my account?

To delete your account, go to Settings > Account > Delete Account in your SnapMonkey dashboard, or email us at [email protected]. Upon deletion:

  • Your FTP credentials will be deactivated immediately
  • Your cloud storage connections will be revoked
  • Your personal data will be removed within 30 days
  • Photos already delivered to your cloud storage remain there (they're in your account, not ours)
