Privacy Policy
Llama Monkey LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website www.llamamonkey.com, the SnapMonkey application, the LiftMonkey application, the LMID (Llama Monkey ID) authentication service, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Services.
By accessing or using our Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not access or use our Services.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account with SnapMonkey, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- Account credentials (passwords are stored in hashed form only)
- Billing information, if you subscribe to a paid plan (processed by our third-party payment processor; we do not store full payment card numbers)
Camera and Transfer Data
When you use SnapMonkey to transfer photos and videos from your Canon camera, we may collect:
- Camera model and connection metadata transmitted via the FTP protocol
- File names, sizes, and timestamps of transferred files
- Transfer status and history (success, failure, timestamps)
Photos and Videos
Your photos and videos are transient data. When your Canon camera sends files to SnapMonkey via FTP, we receive those files temporarily in order to deliver them to your designated cloud storage provider(s). We do not permanently store your photos or videos on our servers. Once a file has been successfully delivered to your cloud storage destination, it is deleted from our systems.
FTP Credentials
SnapMonkey generates unique FTP credentials for your account so your camera can connect to our service. These credentials are stored securely and encrypted at rest.
Cloud Storage Tokens
When you connect cloud storage providers (such as Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox), we store OAuth access and refresh tokens necessary to deliver your files. These tokens grant us only the permissions needed to upload files to your designated folders. You may revoke access at any time through your SnapMonkey account settings or directly through your cloud provider.
Usage and Log Data
We automatically collect certain information when you access our Services, including:
- IP address and approximate location
- Browser type and operating system
- Pages visited and features used
- Date and time of access
- Referring URLs
LMID (Llama Monkey ID) Data
When you create an LMID account, we collect:
- Email address, name, and account credentials (passwords stored in hashed form only)
- Linked product accounts (e.g., which Llama Monkey products are connected to your LMID)
- SSO session tokens and login timestamps
- IP addresses used during authentication
Cross-Product Identity Data
When you sign in to a product via LMID, we share only the minimal identity information needed for authentication: your name, email address, and a unique account identifier. Your password is never shared between products.
LiftMonkey Data
When you use LiftMonkey, we may collect:
- URLs you submit for media extraction
- Downloaded file metadata (filename, file size, source platform)
- Cloud storage destination preferences
We do not store downloaded media on our servers. Files are extracted, delivered to your browser or cloud storage, and then purged from our systems.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain our Services, including receiving photos via FTP and delivering them to your cloud storage
- Authenticate your camera connections and cloud storage integrations
- Authenticate you across Llama Monkey products via LMID and maintain SSO sessions
- Extract and deliver media from URLs you provide to LiftMonkey
- Process transactions and manage your account and subscription
- Monitor service health, transfer success rates, and system performance
- Communicate with you about service updates, security alerts, and support
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or fraud
- Comply with legal obligations
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Cloud Storage Providers: Your photos and videos are delivered to the cloud storage provider(s) you select (Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox). Each provider's privacy policy governs your data once it reaches their platform.
- Payment Processors: If you use a paid plan, your billing information is handled by our third-party payment processor.
- Service Providers: We may share information with vendors who help us operate our Services (such as hosting providers and email delivery services), subject to confidentiality obligations.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Data Storage and Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information. Specifically:
- Photos and videos are transient and are not retained after successful delivery to your cloud storage
- FTP credentials are encrypted at rest
- OAuth tokens are stored securely and can be revoked by you at any time
- Account passwords are stored in hashed form using industry-standard algorithms
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/SSL
- LMID SSO tokens are encrypted, expire automatically, and can be revoked from your LMID dashboard
- LiftMonkey URLs and media are transient — processed and not permanently retained
While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
- Photos and videos: Deleted from our systems upon successful transfer to your cloud storage, or within 72 hours of receipt, whichever comes first.
- Transfer logs: Retained for up to 90 days for troubleshooting and service improvement, then automatically deleted.
- LMID login history: Retained for up to 90 days for security monitoring, then automatically deleted.
- LiftMonkey extraction logs: Retained for up to 30 days for troubleshooting, then automatically deleted.
